Mesh Coffee

A small, serious coffee bar

Small footprint, serious reason to visit. Mesh brings the neighborhood coffee-bar experience into focus: a compact original shop, house-roasted beans, and a little pause in the street. This is our pick for a coffee-centered stop between the bigger spaces around Seoul Forest.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A straight espresso drink or the day’s filter coffee. Ask what they are most excited to brew.

Coffee Libre

Beans to bring home

A sourcing-focused roaster with a new Yeonnam address worth getting right. The café has moved from its old Dongjin Market shop into a house on Seongmisan-ro 32-gil. Come to compare single origins and browse the bean shelf; this is a useful stop for finding a coffee to brew at home as well as a cup for the walk.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A filter coffee from the current selection, or a flat white; ask which retail beans suit your home brewing method.

Coffee Nap Roasters

Coffee and architecture

An unusual brick landscape fills this tiny corner café. It is a memorable stop for someone who loves spatial design but still wants a roaster behind the drink. Go for a compact coffee break, with time to notice how the room turns ordinary brick into seating.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A flat white or a straightforward espresso drink to get a feel for the house roast.

Manufact Coffee

An everyday coffee ritual

Make room for a classic neighborhood roaster between Yeonhui’s side streets. Manufact is a useful counterpoint to the destination cafés: an established coffee name with a compact upstairs original. Start simple and use the cup to decide whether a bag of its beans belongs in your suitcase.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A flat white or americano using the house blend, then compare the beans on sale.

Fritz Coffee

Coffee, pastries and a gallery

A satisfying way to put coffee into a palace-and-gallery day. Fritz’s Wonseo branch pairs the roaster’s distinctive identity with an architectural setting beside Arario Museum. This is the stop we would choose when the group wants both a credible coffee name and something from the bakery counter.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A house espresso drink and a pastry from the day’s counter.

MTL

Coffee between design shops

A coffee break with a design-store sensibility. MTL’s connection to Berlin’s Bonanza makes it an interesting change of perspective among Seoul’s homegrown roasters. Make it the pause in a Hannam afternoon of browsing, with espresso as the starting point.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

An espresso or a small milk coffee; ask which beans are on the bar today.

Milestone Coffee

A well-made milk coffee

A good choice when your ideal coffee is short, balanced, and made with milk. Milestone traces its approach to Australian coffee culture. The Hannam branch is a useful anchor for an unhurried neighborhood visit, particularly for people who would rather enjoy a cappuccino than puzzle over a long bean list.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

An Australian-style cappuccino or flat white.

Felt Coffee

A precise espresso break

A useful espresso stop in the middle of the business district. Felt describes its seasonal espresso as fruit-forward and its classic blend as more chocolate-led. That clear choice is the appeal: you can steer the cup toward your taste without a lengthy conversation.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A seasonal-blend espresso for fruit, or a classic-blend milk drink for chocolate tones; confirm what is on bar.

Coffee on a Seochon walk

A practical second stop on the west side of Gyeongbokgung. Manufact’s Seochon branch lets you keep the coffee wander in the neighborhood, with the same roaster behind the Yeonhui original. Choose an uncomplicated espresso drink and leave time for the surrounding streets.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A useful coffee-first address to keep in your pocket around Myeongdong. This branch brings Coffee Libre’s sourcing-led program into an area where a good coffee stop can otherwise become an afterthought. Go for an espresso drink and take a look at the retail beans.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Milestone Coffee

Flat whites and tiramisu

Start your Sinsa coffee day with a milk drink. Milestone began in these backstreets in 2014, with an approach shaped by Australian coffee culture. The original is the natural choice for a flat-white person who also likes the option of a proper dessert.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A flat white or Australian-style cappuccino; add mascarpone tiramisu if it is on the counter.

Center Coffee

A weekday COEX coffee stop

A practical specialty-coffee address for a weekday around Samseong and COEX. Keep this in reserve for a conference day or an east-Gangnam errand, when a detour to Seoul Forest makes little sense. Let the current bean menu guide the order.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A straightforward espresso drink, or ask whether single-origin filter is available that day.

Fritz Coffee

A first Seoul coffee-and-pastry stop

If you are choosing one Fritz, make a case for the original. The Dohwa house brings coffee, a generous bakery selection, and the seal-mascot world together in one stop. It is an easy recommendation for a mixed group: enough coffee interest for the enthusiast, enough pastry temptation for everyone else.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A rotating pour-over or house latte, with a pastry selected from that day’s bake.

John Small Roastery

A quieter neighborhood roaster

A quieter counterpoint to Fritz. Independent coverage highlights its house blends, single origins, and neighborhood feel. This is the one to choose when you want the afternoon to revolve around a cup and a conversation, with the river as a possible next stop.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A single-origin pour-over or a flat white; ask about the current coffees.

Fritz Coffee Company

Coffee with breakfast · Roaster introduction

A good coffee-and-bakery anchor for Yangjae. Fritz occupies a small building just off the station junction, with warm lamps, tiled details and seating on several levels. There is enough coffee interest to make this a deliberate stop, and enough bread to turn it into breakfast. Try a brewed coffee with something from the day's bake, then leave the next cup for another neighborhood.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Brewing coffee with a croissant or red-bean bread.

Coffee Montage

Espresso comparison · Buying local beans

Coffee Montage is a strong reason to head east for coffee. The Seongnae flagship doubles as a showroom; the roasting factory is in Hanam, so check the branch before navigating. Brewing coffee and an espresso platter give you two useful ways into the menu. Make time for the bean shelf, too: the named house blends and single origins make this a rewarding stop for finding your next home-brewing coffee.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Brewing coffee or an espresso platter; ask about the A Bittersweet Life blend.

Coffee Libre

Coffee and bread · Heritage architecture

Look beyond the mall for the old brick office building beside Times Square. Here Coffee Libre shares a destination with Owolui Jong, the bakery also known as Maybell. The pairing is particularly useful for a mixed group: the changing brew gives coffee enthusiasts something to explore, while bread makes the break feel generous. Take a moment with the building before returning to the busy shopping streets.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

This week’s brewed coffee with bread from Owolui Jong.

Taeyang Coffee

Cream coffee · A compact local roaster

A small neighborhood roaster with a very clear invitation: come for a short coffee break. Taeyang's flat white offers a straightforward introduction to the house coffee; its Einspänner takes the richer route, with cream above the drink. It is an appealing place to explore Seoul's cream-coffee habit without committing to a full dessert outing. Keep a takeaway plan in mind if the compact room is busy.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Classic Einspänner or flat white; choose the Einspänner base when offered.

Taeyang Coffee

A transfer-station stop · Einspänner

This Sadang branch brings Taeyang's concise coffee menu close to one of southern Seoul's busiest transfer stations. The brick frontage and warm interior shown in its gallery give it a distinct setting from the Bangbae shop. Choose it for an Einspänner break between journeys, or keep the order simple with a flat white. The local business listing also offers retail blends, making a quick station-side visit useful for replenishing beans as well as drinking coffee.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Tailor Coffee

A Garosu-gil break · Coffee with pie

Tailor's Sinsa branch makes a particularly convenient coffee stop around Garosu-gil because it accommodates two different moods. Hand-drip and flat white serve the straightforward coffee order, while Cream Mocha and Coco Freddo offer a more dessert-like direction. Independent reviews confirm the same street address and the longstanding interest in its cream drinks. The pale tiled room and wooden tables shown in the branch gallery make this an appealing place to pause between browsing the surrounding shops.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A&Other

Choosing an espresso profile · Everyday specialty coffee

A&Other is worth including for its focused, everyday approach to roasted coffee near Gangnam-gu Office. Its menu distinguishes darker and brighter coffee options, and independent visitor accounts mention buying beans as well as drinking in. That gives a quick Americano or latte stop more interest than the surrounding office setting might suggest. The restrained black-and-white furniture and window signage keep the setting simple; come for a conversation about your preferred coffee style and a manageable neighborhood pause.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

February Roasters

A Songridan coffee stop · Coffee and cheesecake

February Roasters gives Songridan-gil a coffee-led stop within a neighborhood often visited for dessert. The branch menu includes hand-drip, flat white and retail Manwol blend alongside its named cream lattes. Independent reviews are mixed on which preparation shines most, so choosing by your own preference is more useful than chasing a single signature. Its location near Songpanaru makes it easy to combine a focused coffee order with the surrounding small restaurants and a walk toward Seokchon Lake.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Hand-drip from the available list, or December Latte for the sweeter signature.

INC Coffee

Roastery architecture · Unusual coffee processing

INC's Gasan flagship turns a large former industrial building into a spacious coffee destination. The long bar, brickwork and central courtyard give the visit architectural interest, but the menu also supplies a clear coffee theme: rum-barrel coffees alongside conventional espresso and single-origin drip choices. This is a good fit for someone who wants to compare an experimental drink with a familiar preparation. The bakery and extensive seating make it easier to spend time here than at a tiny espresso counter.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Guatemala rum-barrel drip coffee, or flat white with a bakery item.

Minimale Coffee Roaster

A latte before a park walk · Small-roaster coffee

Minimale is a small roaster's café near Yangjae Citizen's Forest station, useful when the coffee plan includes a greener part of southern Seoul. Its Helsinki Latte is the clearest signature to start with, and independent reviews repeatedly discuss the milk drinks alongside cookies and scones. The compact storefront makes this a modest neighborhood stop rather than an all-afternoon destination. Pair a carefully chosen latte with a walk, or ask about the coffee being used before choosing a simpler preparation.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Terarosa's Gildong café suits a longer pause in eastern Seoul. The concrete interior, high ceiling and book-filled shelving are distinctive, and the branch's hand-drip menu gives coffee drinkers a reason to linger beyond the setting. It is a useful choice when you want a familiar Korean specialty roaster with more room than a neighborhood counter. Go with time to read the available coffees and choose a brew, adding something from the bakery if the visit becomes lunch.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Log Coffee Roasters

Small bags of beans · A local office-district roaster

Log is a good reason to look beyond the large café chains around Guro Digital Complex. Its menu separates Log 1 and Log 2 Americanos and offers small bags of blends and single-origin coffee, making the choice of beans part of an ordinary visit. Independent reviews describe a hands-on roasting operation and regular customers. The approachable espresso prices and compact portions of retail beans make it especially useful for trying a local roaster without committing to a large purchase.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Coffee Fiel rewards a closer look at the bean menu. Named single origins and espresso blends sit behind a range that runs from straightforward milk coffee to individually identified brewing options. That makes it a useful Sinsa stop when one person wants to discuss the coffee and another wants something sweeter. Ask what is brewing today; the Butterscotch Latte offers the more indulgent route into the visit.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Leesar Coffee

Espresso tasting · A short coffee date

Leesar's Cheongdam branch is an appealing place to make espresso the whole occasion. A detailed branch review documents both the standing bar and table seating, with different prices depending on how you use the space. Short espresso drinks, including variations with cream or citrus, encourage tasting more than one preparation. The small cups and focused menu make this a better fit for an intentional coffee break than a long laptop session, especially for someone curious about Seoul's espresso-bar culture.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Hooroop Roasters

A small independent roaster · Coffee and pound cake

Hooroop brings a smaller, neighborhood-roaster scale to Magok's office streets. Recent named reviews mention both milk drinks and batch brew, while the branch listing also identifies hand-drip and pound cake. It is particularly useful for a brief tasting stop rather than a long work session: reviewers describe limited seating and a communal layout. A latte and a slice of lemon pound cake offer an approachable first visit, with black coffee available for a more direct look at the roasting.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Morning coffee · An independent Magok roaster

Crack is a promising independent-roaster stop in Magok, with its current official address at Lotte Castle Le West corroborated by the review directory. The menu gives espresso and flat white a straightforward place beside coffee desserts and more elaborate milk drinks. A May 2026 visit describes morning takeaway traffic and time to sit quietly, making it especially appealing before the district gets busy. Use the current street address carefully, because older reviews still describe a different Magoknaru location.

Goro Coffee Roasters

Single-origin exploration · A residential-neighborhood coffee stop

Goro is one of the more compelling reasons to explore the residential streets between Seoul National University and Nakseongdae stations. Its Café Show partner profile emphasizes single-origin brewing, and dated visitor posts show detailed coffee cards alongside the drinks. This suits people who enjoy knowing what is in the cup and discussing their preferences. Reviews do not agree on every coffee's acidity, so ask for guidance rather than assuming one roast style will suit everyone; dessert provides an easy companion order.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Single-origin brewing coffee; ask for a gentler or brighter profile to suit your taste.

YM Espresso Room

The chapel-like room gives this YM branch a memorable setting: wooden pews face a coffee counter beneath tall windows and religious-style decorative details. Espresso and flat white make sense here, especially for visitors curious about the espresso side of the same project behind Yeonsinnae's brewing house. It is an unusual neighborhood coffee stop within an apartment shopping arcade, and the basil-toast pairing offers a straightforward reason to stay for a snack.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Hapjeong offers the industrial-scale version of Bean Brothers: a substantial coffee bar inside a high-ceilinged room, with enough visual interest to make the brewing process part of the visit. The menu includes both drip coffee and an espresso-plus-piccolo pairing, a useful way to compare straight coffee with milk. It suits a group with mixed preferences while still giving the person most interested in coffee something specific to explore.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Anthracite Coffee

This Anthracite branch makes architecture part of the coffee break. The brand describes a deliberately dark approach opening onto broad windows, and the branch photographs show how strongly that change in light shapes the room. Filter coffee and familiar espresso drinks keep the order straightforward. It is a compelling pause on a Yeonhui café walk for anyone interested in interiors, with the roaster's coffee providing a clear reason to linger beyond the photograph.

Its branch menu combines the named Charcolino coffee and flat white with salt bread, sandwiches and sweeter latte options, making it useful when coffee is accompanying lunch rather than standing alone. The bakery display and larger room distinguish it from the area's tiny tasting counters. Consider it for a mixed group that wants a roaster's café but also needs a substantial bite.

Tailor's Yeonnam branch is an appealing choice for someone who takes milk coffee seriously but also enjoys a more indulgent order. Flat white and latte share the menu with Cream Mocha, Bluesy and Coco Fredo, giving a coffee outing room to move beyond a standard Americano. Its green-toned interior offers a recognizable setting on Seongmisan-ro. Pair it with a nearby filter-focused stop to explore two different sides of the neighborhood's coffee culture.

Exploring a different brewing tradition

Make this the stop for a different way to brew. Nontanto prepares coffee in a cezve using heated sand, bringing the small-pot ritual into a Yeonnam outing. Let the preparation be the focus, and ask how to approach the sediment in the cup. Espresso drinks and kaymak give companions a familiar alternative, so curiosity about one brewing method can still turn into a relaxed shared coffee break.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Oats Coffee

Cream coffee and a neighborhood house café

Oats makes the strongest case here for a cream-coffee detour. Its Yeonnam branch occupies a converted house, and the independent Seoulshopper visit puts the Einspänner alongside baked sweets at the center of the experience. A flat white or plain espresso remains available for a less sweet order. The location toward the quieter northern end of Yeonnam also makes it a useful destination when walking down from Gajwa rather than starting at Hongik University Station.

Maven brings a smaller independent-roaster option to the office-heavy DMC area. Its own coffee business and customer accounts of hand-brewed single origins support a visit centered on the beans, while the menu leaves room for latte and Cream White drinkers. The dark, metallic interior is compact rather than a sprawling mall café. It is particularly useful for comparing a contemporary roast selection with Bohemian's more traditional hand-drip approach farther into Sangam.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Brown Cherry

A local roaster and beans for home

Follow the coffee beyond the familiar Yeonnam circuit to this small Namgajwa roaster. Brown Cherry makes a strong case for a cup followed by a bag of beans: visitors describe choosing among coffees and talking through filter options in a room with limited seating. Treat the counter as the destination. Ask what is being brewed today, find something suited to your home setup, and take the neighborhood walk at your own pace.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Ask which beans are being served as filter coffee, then choose a bag suited to your home brewer.

Tahoe Coffee

Single-origin coffee around Ahyeon

Tahoe gives Ahyeon a useful place in a specialty-coffee itinerary. Its official introduction describes an in-house roasting program with blends and single origins, and branch reviewers specifically discuss hand-drip coffee and choosing among beans. The photographed room has wood finishes and substantial seating, making this a practical pause between neighborhood errands or a longer walk toward Sinchon. Choose it for a straightforward roaster café experience outside the better-known western coffee clusters.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Choose a hand-drip coffee from the current origin list; ask about the available roast and flavor profile.

Bean Brothers Coffeehouse Seoul

River views and a more structured coffee experience

Coffeehouse Seoul pairs a specialty-coffee program with a broad view toward the Han River. Visit Seoul describes the seventh-floor café and the more structured coffee experience below, making the choice of floor part of planning a visit. It is particularly appealing when a coffee enthusiast is traveling with someone who mainly wants the scenery. Select a current coffee recommendation, settle by the windows if possible, and allow the river setting to make this the longer stop.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

The current coffee-of-the-month recommendation; for a structured tasting, check the sixth-floor Signal Coffee Bar reservation offering.

Mixed coffee preferences on a café walk

The Hapjeong Connects branch is a strong all-round stop for a group split between filter coffee and richer milk drinks. Its branch menu specifically includes brewed specialty coffee, a deeper latte, cold brew and several cream-topped variations, backed by the roaster's own blend and single-origin program. The small street-facing café also makes an easy pairing with Bean Brothers farther along the riverside neighborhood. Choose according to the coffee style you want to compare that day.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

A drip coffee from the current specialty selection, or the Deeper Latte for a richer milk drink.

Default Value

Siphon brewing and a distinctive latte

Default Value is an especially useful stop for understanding how a café can differentiate both brewing and milk preparation. Its official Yeonhui introduction describes seasonal specialty coffees served by siphon and a signature latte made with concentrated milk prepared in-house. Maison Korea's profile independently discusses the same drinks and the barista behind them. That makes a two-drink comparison particularly appealing: one cup for the coffee's origin character, another for the texture and sweetness of the milk.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Siphon-brewed seasonal coffee and the signature latte, shared if you want to compare both.

Figaro's branch feature recommends choosing among the specialty beans, while the official store directory confirms the precise address and weekly schedule. It is an appealing combination for visitors who enjoy domestic architecture and design as well as coffee. Make the cup the starting point, then take time to look through the connected showroom spaces that are open that day.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Choose a single-origin hand-drip coffee from the current list, or compare the available espresso bean options.

El Cafe Coffee Roasters

Comparing filter coffees and buying beans

El Cafe is a strong choice for a coffee-focused detour from Seoul Station. Its current visitor guide describes roughly ten filter options, a changing sample coffee at the service bar and beans that can be ground for your brewer. The room places the roasting operation within view, giving the visit a practical connection to the coffee in the cup. It suits curious drinkers who want help choosing a bag to take home.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Try a rotating filter coffee after tasting the service-bar sample, then choose beans for your home brewer.

up.side adds a playful signature-drink stop to a Seongsu coffee circuit. Its branch menu keeps espresso and flat white alongside drinks named for Seongsu, Haebangchon and Ttukseom, making it useful when a group wants both familiar coffee and something sweeter. The compact shop’s distinct branding gives it personality without requiring a long visit. Pair it with a nearby filter specialist to make the different approaches to coffee part of the outing.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Try the listed Seongsu Coffee signature; choose a flat white if you prefer a straightforward espresso-and-milk drink.

964 Coffee Roastery

Coffee and a substantial bakery stop near the universities

964 earns its place as a bakery-and-coffee option in Hoegi, where a university-area walk can stretch well beyond the familiar central café districts. The menu includes a monthly drip coffee as well as flat whites, while croissants and salted breads give the visit a substantial food component. Recent directory material places considerable emphasis on the bakery. Come for that combination, with the rotating drip as the most interesting coffee starting point.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Order the 964 Monthly Drip with a plain or almond croissant; ask which coffee is currently being brewed.

Tapered offers an approachable way into Oksu’s neighborhood coffee scene, with espresso choices backed by a business that also roasts coffee for other cafés. The local menu favors milk drinks and banana bread, and a branch-specific visitor account describes choosing between beans for a latte. That makes it a useful stop for exploring how roast and origin change a familiar drink. Its residential setting also works well before a walk downhill toward the river.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Ask about the available beans for a latte, or try the listed Emmit Latte with banana bread.

It is an appealing stop for someone who wants a small roaster’s coffee between walks through the printing streets and the foot of Namsan. The chestnut cheesecake provides a distinctive pairing, while the flat white keeps the choice straightforward for milk-coffee drinkers.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Felt’s Cheonggyecheon branch makes a polished coffee stop in the civic center, with an expansive counter and bold red surfaces setting it apart from the surrounding office lobbies. The branch review and menu support a simple approach: choose brewed coffee or a latte, then add a financier if you want something small. Its location works particularly well for a stream-side walk or a pause between Gwanghwamun and City Hall.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Order brewed coffee or a latte with a financier from the available selection.

Terarosa

A filter coffee alongside an MMCA exhibition

Terarosa gives an MMCA Seoul visit a proper coffee intermission. The museum’s own facility listing specifies origin coffees, espresso, bakery items and other drinks, so the appeal goes beyond the convenience of a museum café. Tall shelving and a restrained interior fit the gallery setting without competing with it. Make this the Samcheong stop when an exhibition is the main event but the quality and choice of the accompanying coffee still matter.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Choose an origin filter coffee and one of the available bakery items.

Koffee Sniffer brings a compact roaster-led stop to the restaurant lanes south of City Hall. Its official branch listing confirms the small Bukchang address, while the café menu ranges from filter coffee to a custard latte. That spread makes it easy to visit with someone whose coffee preferences differ from yours. The dark brick frontage and service window give it a distinct street presence, well suited to a short break during a central Seoul walk.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Try filter coffee, or choose the listed Sniffer Latte or Custard Latte for a sweeter signature drink.

Oats Coffee

Cream coffee and a small neighborhood detour

Oats is a useful detour into the smaller streets around Namyeong for drinkers who enjoy cream-topped coffee. A December 2025 branch review documents both the signature drinks and coffee beans and drip bags for sale, giving the visit a connection to the brand’s roasting beyond the photogenic cup. The shop is modest in scale. Treat it as a focused coffee stop, with an Einspänner as the natural introduction to its style.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Order the Einspänner or Oats Latte, then inspect the available beans and drip bags.

Champ’s Third Workshop turns an upper level of Daerim Arcade into a memorable coffee stop, pairing its bear-emblem branding with the working atmosphere of Euljiro. Branch menus and visitor accounts document filter coffee, several milk-coffee sizes and beans for sale. It is particularly appealing as one stop in a walk through the arcade rather than a destination for an extended indoor stay. The elevated setting adds another perspective on the surrounding streets.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Choose a filter coffee or a small Champ milk coffee; the sweet Euljiro Coffee is another listed signature.

Onion

Coffee, bakery and reused civic architecture in northern Seoul

Onion’s Mia branch provides a compelling northern alternative for visitors interested in the brand’s coffee and bakery. A published neighborhood interview places it in a former post-office space, and the broad concrete room is a substantial part of the attraction. Espresso drinks and pastries make an accessible order before exploring Mia’s everyday streets. Come with an interest in adaptive reuse and neighborhood context; the hard-edged seating is part of the design experience.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Order a flat white or the listed honey espresso with a pastry from the day’s bakery display.

Hakrim

Coffee history and a classic cream-coffee pause

Hakrim adds an older chapter of Seoul coffee culture to a Hyehwa itinerary. Its long history is matched by a menu built around espresso, Vienna coffee and cream cheesecake, while reporting also documents the café’s own roasting tradition. The wooden room, portraits and mezzanine provide a very different setting from a contemporary tasting bar. Choose it for that historical context and a leisurely cream coffee after a walk through the theater district.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Try Vienna coffee with cream cheesecake, or choose a double espresso for a smaller order.

Start with a coffee you know well and ask about the beans behind it. Afterward, continue along Neungdong-ro toward Children’s Grand Park for a change of pace.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Try a flat white or espresso, and ask which Bonanza beans are available to take home.

PONT Coffee

Roaster coffee and beans on a Yongsan backstreet

PONT’s Yongsan café places the roaster in a small building on one of the station district’s quieter lanes. Its official location list confirms the branch, and specialist coverage shows a long bar, timber surfaces and a retail coffee selection. The brand’s stated interest in sweetness and clarity makes this a useful place to ask about beans as well as order a latte. Combine it with nearby 3F/LOBBY for two distinct coffee settings on one street.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Order a flat white or latte, then ask for a bean recommendation suited to your usual brew method.

Cafe Siwa

Specialty coffee with homemade focaccia

Siwa brings a convincing small-café option to the streets around Sungshin Women’s University. Independent specialty-coffee coverage highlights its brewing and homemade focaccia, and the branch menu supports that pairing with single-bean coffees and several substantial sandwiches. It is a good choice for an unhurried lunch built around coffee rather than an elaborate brunch menu. The modest room and residential setting make it especially useful for discovering a less familiar part of Seongbuk.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Choose a rotating brewing coffee with the ham, cheese and arugula focaccia sandwich; the Siwa Latte uses a single-origin bean.

Blue Miles Coffee Roasters

Independent roasting, jazz and a railway-park walk

Blue Miles gives Gongneung’s railway-park walk a specialty-roasting destination with a clear personal identity. A January 2026 feature describes the musician-owner’s jazz connection and house blends named for Miles Davis and Chet Baker, with different flavor profiles to explore. Coffee roasting and retail beans are central to the business. The upstairs windows overlook neighborhood greenery, making it an inviting place to pause before following the former tracks through the surrounding streets.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Compare the listed Miles Davis and Chet Baker blends by their tasting notes; choose Chet Baker if you prefer a fruitier profile.

Leesar Coffee

A short espresso-bar tasting

Leesar’s Yaksu espresso bar offers a concentrated way to explore the city’s taste for short coffee drinks. Official tourism coverage and more recent branch accounts document its standing-bar format and variations built around espresso, sugar and cream. A small straight espresso followed by a Pieno makes an instructive pairing if you want to compare styles. The appeal is the brief, focused ritual at the counter, with a neighborhood walk afterward.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Try espresso, then Pieno with cream and cocoa if you want a second small drink.

Let a cup at Orang Orang be the reward for climbing into Sinheung Market. The roaster connection gives this Haebangchon stop a coffee reason to visit as well as a neighborhood one; drip coffee and flat white are straightforward places to start. Add tiramisu if it is available, then return to the market lanes. A flexible hillside wander suits the café better than a rushed schedule of stops.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Order drip coffee or a flat white; add tiramisu if available.

A cappuccino and croissant remain an easy introduction, but the setting is a reason to linger beyond the first cup. Work it into a walk between Dongguk University and Gwanghuimun, leaving room to enjoy the buildings as well as the counter.

OUR SUGGESTED ORDER

Order a cappuccino or Americano with a croissant or the listed salt fougasse.
